When we read the city of ember we have to use our inference skills a lot because the story is implicit.
This Tagul is about the main topics in the book The City of Ember.
I also made a diamante poem to go with it.

Perishing Weeping Starving
In Darkness, Ember Stands

Speech
Reflection
This is my Speech that I made so I could try and get into the Inter-School speech finals.
I think that this was tricky because I had to present it to the class, which I had to practice for.
Next time I should make my speech a bit longer and present my speech a bit louder.

Cry of the Taniwha Prejudice Example
Reflection
This is my Cry of the Taniwha Prejudice Example.
I felt that this work was interesting because it's very different to the other work I've done.
I found this work easy because the story gave me lots of information about this character.
From this story I have learnt that when you first see somebody they might not be what you think.

Leadership Week
The school councillors, house captains & other leaders where spoiled with a visit from people at frucor, which were asking questions and teaching us things about leader-ship. They got us to fill in a chart with things you would do as a leader and they got us to stand in some circles that were around each other and told us that the smallest circle was the comfort zone which had 95% of people and the one in-between was the challenging or learning zone. The largest circle was the danger or panic zone. I enjoyed this experience and learned a lot from this.

My Natural Disaster Brainstorm
I have been learning to summarise and record research in my own words.
I found summarising the information into my own words because I understood the text well.
I found this interesting because I leant lots of new things like there was a tsunami going almost as fast as a jet-plane.
Now I plan to find more information about natural disasters.

My Special Place
My Reflection
I was learning how to use my 5 senses to add detail to my writing to make it more interesting.
I felt bored doing this work because it was too easy.
I thought this learning was easy because I enjoyed the place a lot so I can remember what it's like most of the time.
My next step is to do more of theses to challenge myself and also to add it to other writing so it's more interesting.

Show Don't Tell Camp
My Reflection
I was learning to write a show don't tell piece of writing. I thought this was a okay piece of work. The reason why is because it was hard to think about "shows" but the rest was easy because I remember clearly what happened. I should practice doing this in the holidays or my on time, so that I become better at making "shows" and that will make me better at writing.

Understanding a Characters Impact
I was learning to find the impact of a character in the story. I found this work okay because I already watched the movie. I found doing this work easy because I remember the story well so I know what Jesse was like at the beginning of the story. Next I should read more stories in my on time and try to make out the impact of one of the characters in the story.

Factors and multiples problem
This is my voice thread that I have made with Me, Ben & Hank. It is about the factors and multiples problem that we had to work out. I found this work interesting because I haven't seen a problem like this also at the start I there was "triangular number" I wasn't sure of it at first but I remembered what it meant later on. My next step is to get more puzzles like this but gradually getting harder.
Comparing Characters
My Reflection
I was learning to compare characters. I compared Jesse and Leslie from Bridge to Teribithia.
It was easy because I already knew a lot about the characters.

Hand-Shakes Solution
We have been working on a problem about how many hand-shakes there would be if some mathematicians met and shook hands with each other once. I found it tricky before my teacher gave me a clue to use algebra. My next step is to find more problems like this to challenge myself.

Making and Breaking Popplet
I was making and breaking the number 20 and putting it in to a popplet. I think it was easy because it was a very easy number to make and break. It was easy because I already had a lot of equations in my head. My next step is to make it a higher number to make and break.

My Kennings Poem
I was learning how to write a Kennings Poem. I found it hard because I had to find lots of things I was good at. It was hard because I couldn't think of enough things for a while. I could get some help who know me well so I could do better. My next step is to write more poems so I'm good at them.
My Did You Ever Poem
I was learning how to write a Did You Ever Poem. I felt that it was quite easy because the topic I chose didn't happen very long ago. I did it well because I enjoyed it. Next time I should challenge myself to think harder so I can write more than one poem.
